The Di scholarship has been created in memory of our Di. She lived a life of service and generosity in every aspect of her life. She was never one to sit back and let others do the work. There are many individuals who have the same traits however the number reduces when you take into consideration her health. Not knowing if she would be able to walk or have to be in a wheelchair it never slowed her down. Those who have attended GLLA may remember her as the blonde who was tending to the food at the poolside auction for several years. We remember her using a walker one year and in a wheelchair the next year. Her passion was to serve others not only where people would see her but also behind the scene doing things that needed to be done that nobody would ever know. She never wanted to be acknowledged for what she did, her reward was being able to do for others. Coming from the BDSM community, Di embraced the leather community and quickly became a part of it through her kindness and service. She became a member in Ms Kendra's Leather family with 3 pieces of earned leather. After her very first GLLA she commented that wouldn't it be great if every one could get to go to GLLA at least once! It is in that vain that this scholarship has been created.
The registration fee will be paid for the individuals who are chosen by the Di Scholarship Committee. In accepting the scholarship the individual agrees to attend this years GLLA and to provide at least four hours of volunteer service to the event without reward and attend two workshops. In addition, it is expected that the recipient of a scholarship will write a recap of their experience that can be used in promoting the Di Scholarship Fund. The only requirement to receive this scholarship is having never attended a prior GLLA. It is not need based and doesn't matter how you identify, you are eligible.
